We are so proud to present to the DeviantArt community our fourth featured artist!

Dirk aka urchin1996 to the Renderosity community, is The Master of Xenodream, and he makes exquisite Apophysis and UltraFractl paintings as well.

His paintings are about impossible crystals, incredible estructures, chaotic worlds, they remind the viewer of some of Escher's works.

Fos those who have tried Xenodream, you will know by now that it´s not that easy to get a truly original design out of it. So, you will really appreciate the excepional skills of this artist. But let´s better read from his own writing, about his art history:

I started using computers in my graphic work when I studied at the art
academy in Bruges (Belgium) during the late '80s. I worked on an Amiga 500 and created my first works with Deluxe Paint.

When I moved to the Netherlands, to study at the AKI art academy in Enschede, I discovered the wonderful world of fractals with a Mandelbrott and a Lyapunovia fractalprogram.

In '93 I got my bachelor degree in media-art, with a specialization in video installations.

Coming back to Belgium, I decided that I wanted to make art, but that I didn't wanted to get into the artworld.

So instead of actualy creating video-installations, I developed my ideas in 3d-programs. Slowly I forgot about installations all together and started to create 3d-stills. And I continued to work with fractalprograms.

When I found Xenodream, it was like a dream come true. Here was a program that combined 3d and fractals, and was capable of producing the most incredible images.

Apart from XD, I also work with Ultrafractal, Apophysis, Vue, and Photoshop6. I am also starting out on Poser and Carrara 3d. My ultimate goal is to combine all these programs to create my visions and dreams in a seamless manner.

I don't know which art style my work is refering to, but I love the works of Magritte, Delvaux, Escher, Hiëronymus Bosch, and realist painters like Kanowitz.

Most of my works are closely related to my poetry. Sometimes a haiku-like verse forms the basis to a work, sometimes the graphics come first.

I hope you will enjoy this small selection of my fractal images.

Dirk

This artist is one of the most creative artists we've met. Just by reading his own descriptions of his works, it is possible to see that his creativity is focussed in many aspects of art at once, such as digital painting, music and poetry, all in one single work. For example, just read about his future projects:

I already have a complete series in mind, a 3 part composition with intro and outtro, consisting of 15 individual works, based on some musical loops I created. I'm gonna give these musical scores a fractal work-over ;-))

CONTRIBUTIONS

I want to make clear the point about contributing your art to this gallery.

Even though, as we say below, we´re open for everyone, and though we are not an elitist group or community, we are a gallery devoted to DIGITAL ART WORTHY TO BE PRINTED AND EXPOSED AS A TRUE PAINTING.

So, bearing this in mind, please do not submit any art that does not fulfill this requirement. We won´t write any rejection notes, they are unfair and discouraging. We won´t qualify your art, but if it doesn´t comply with our only requirement, it won´t be shown over here! So, if after a reasonable period of time you don´t see your art in this gallery, you may want to re-consider your concept. It might be digital alright, but it may not necessarily be a painting!

OUR MISSION

Digital art these days consists mainly of skinning, illustrations and 3D renderings. Even though many of them are high quality pieces of considerable artistic value, we do not think they are conceived to be printed and exposed as paintings.

Digital galleries throughout the net are showing true digital paintings, but they restrict their acceptance to the owner´s preferences or ideas :blahblah: about what should be called art :tears:.

 We want to offer a showroom for the artist who respects his/her own art. If you regard your art as worthy of being printed and exposed in a gallery, museum or at any art lover´s wall, the doors are open here for you!

We do not restrict acceptance of art pieces to our concepts about art. Any kind of art expression is valid for us, as long as it has been made to be printed and exposed as a true painting.

DISPLAY YOUR DIGITAL PAINTINGS HERE!

If you want your art to be exposed in this gallery, please send us a mail :emailsend: with a low resolution jpg copy of your digital painting.

Preferable sizes should be smaller than 1200 pixels wide and/or length.

Please include :writersblock: the following information:

:bulletblue: Title of your digital painting.

:bulletblue: Your name and nick.

:bulletblue: A description of what you see or have expressed in your painting.

:bulletblue: Avalability of your painting:

:bulletred::bulletred:1) If it is available at :daprints:, include link.

:bulletred::bulletred: 2) If it is available at Zazzle, include link.

:bulletred::bulletred: 3) If it has been or will be printed by yourself (if applicable, specify actual printed size and how you should be contacted for price negotiations :buymyprints:).

:bulletred::bulletred: Any other, include links.

WHAT WE ARE NOT

Even though we restrict our entries to art pieces that were conceived to be printed and exposed as paintings, and though we are open  for every artist whose pieces meet this only requirement.

:bulletpurple: We are not another elitist club :yakuza: or an open for everyone community :community:. Both types exist already at DA and some of them are highly respected and succesful please, do not apply to us for membership!:please:.

:bulletpurple: We are not seeking to profit :money: on YOUR ART! It is YOU who has the right to do it!

:bulletpurple: We won´t call for contests, :trophy: tweakings, tournaments or any other competition.

:bulletpurple: We will not watch any artist or have any favourites!.

:bulletpurple: We will not comment on any artist´s art!

Nevertheless, we may invite worthy artists to show their work over here.:highfive:

We believe in your art, :cuddle: do you believe in it too?
