As I began painting, I remembered the Tibetan Buddhist Prayer Flags I have seen, their meaning and symbolism. I then began to see this from the perspective of my own spiritual tradition. Flags of supplication rise and float in mid air, carrying the love and hopes of those releasing them to the heavens. I could imagine walking into a prayer room lit by the soft light of candles, sitting in contemplation, waiting within. (Painter IX)
